Notification owner for updates via API

We use the Fieldwire API to edit tasks via a spreadsheet.
We noticed that every notification generated from updates resulting from API edits comes through to users as "Name Last name commented..." name & last name always being mine, not the user that actually made the edit, even though we edit the last_edited_by_user property. In fact, the detail shows the actual user name for the person that updated the text in the task. Is this because the API token is under my account?
